All of a sudden my left eye got a sharp pain through it. now it has been hurting for 5+ hours and hurts more when i close my eyes. nothing is in it.

Get examined: Severe,persistent pain in the eye warrants an examination,preferably by an ophthalmologist. Inflammation such as iritis or acute glaucoma to be considered. Very worrisome associated signs would be redness and/or visual disturbance.
