What happens to people when they have only one carotid artery?

Depends: Many people can either block one carotid, or have one carotid occluded surgically (ie for trauma or ecmo) and go on to live normal lives and never know. Likewise, some people can have devastating strokes from it.

Nothing: Nothing that has not already happened. But the remaining artery haas to be monitered for disease.
