A good question: for your gynecologist. Ultrasound is an appropriate test for endometrial adenocarcinoma but it will miss small tumors. A D&C may be done for therapeutic purposes, but is good for detecting adenocarcinoma if the sample is examined by a pathologist. Even so, a D&C may miss tumors because it is a blind procedure; or depending on the size and location of the tumor.
