Not lifelong i hope: Vestibular neuritis can be caused by a virus and can resolve over time. Unfortunately when you experience this condition, it is quite incapacitating. It usually takes several months for the symptoms to improve depending upon the cause. Your doctor will have a better understanding of your case based on your history and the likely etiology of your neuritis. I hope you get better soon!
