A member asked:

What would be a good healthy heart rate for a 53 yr old just doing daily activities? rhr 50s/60s. is upper 90s-lower 100s too high?

Max HR based on age: When we perform stress tests, we generally try to obtain as close to maximum as possible calculated as 220 minus your age so for you: that would be 167. I tell my patients that they should achieve at least 85% of maximum during maximal effort and to ease down once that heart rate is achieved. As one becomes more conditioned, it takes longer to achieve that peak heart rate
