Probably benign: at 25 years of age this is probably benign. If you smoke quit. If this does not resolve by itself you need to see an ENT

Bacterial plaque: after some oral or upper respiratory infection these white spots may appear on the tonsils. They are dead bacterial material which may be soft or get hard. If rinsing does not releive this problem see your oral surgeon who will rather easily remove them with or with out topical anesthesia
