Rest required.: The inflammation will not resolve, the pain will continue, and you may end up with a worse injury or condition. Usually pain from inflammation is a sign to rest the area and allow healing to take place. Ice to the area while protecting the skin with a towel for 15 minutes two to three times a day may help. Elbow compression may help some. There is no substitute for the body's natural healting.
