Anatomy: Hemorrhoids are an anatomic change resulting from collection of blood in the veins of the rectum. Sometimes they cause no symptoms; other times there may be bleeding, discomfort, pressure, itching or outright pain. Topical treatment may get rid of the symptoms, but they don't get rid of the hemorrhoids. Occasional flare ups are quite common.

External hemorrhoids: Conservative treatment is use of hemorrhoid topicals, sitz baths and control of constipation. If those fail see a Colo_rectal surgeon for surgical intervention
