Daily: Levothyroxine aka T4 is taken daily to replace/supplement what your thyroid cannot produce (adequately). It is converted into T3 (liothyronine). We measure TSH to determine adequacy of your dose ~6wks after dose change. There are a few who do not adequately convert T4 into T3 (liothyronine) so they take Liothyronine (aka T3 (liothyronine)), which can be measured as well as TSH. T3 (liothyronine) has a short-half life so it must be taken several times/day.
