When i dont drink enough water my left kidney feels irritated. what does this mean?

I cannot think of a reasonable reason for not drinking enough water would make your left kidney irritated. I suppose if you have a very large kidney stone and you get dehydrated the urine in your upper calyx might not shield the kidney from the stone irritation. But far out.
