A member asked:

What is diffeence between forxiga and metformin. how this two works and what is an advantage one over the other. which you recomend? thx

Different meds: Metformin has been out 20+ years, and works by reducing the amount of sugar made by the liver. Farxiga has been out for ~ 1 year, and causing the kidneys to let more sugar out in the urine. Metformin is first choice because it typically lowers sugar levels more, costs much less, and causes fewer side effects in most people. If metformin isn't enough, Farxiga is one of many choices to add on.
