Use/overuse syndrome: The treatment measures are typically simple, and include neither total rest nor continued activity, but rather gentle muscle strengthening and stretching, with use of ibuprofen or another NSAID. It's curious that she would have been given a Cortizone (hydrocortisone) injection without other simpler measures. A knee brace may help. Physical therapy may be needed if severe/prolonged. The PCP should provide a plan.
