Malabsorption: Sleeve gastrectomy is a surgical weight-loss procedure in which the stomach is reduced to about 25% of its original size, classified as a restrictive bariatric procedure. Mini gastric bypass surgery is another form of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, which leaves the patient with a smaller stomach pouch (restrictive), but also bypasses a segment of intestine, causing malabsorption.
