A member asked:

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in april 2013. i am numb below the cut. is this normal? does this mean i have nerve damage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes/no: It is normal to cut peripheral nerves if an incision was used for this procedure. Abnormal sensations around that area are normal for a while. Nerves can ball up and form neuromas sometimes, and other nerve changes can occur. If this bothers you, phone your surgeon to ask his/her experience with that surgery outcome.
