Too young: Chronic hip pain at age 16 should be evaluated by a pediatric orthopedist as the problem could be developmental or secondary to exercising the wrong way or too much exercise with or without the correct gear particularly foot gear. This is not a problem that can be accurately diagnosed and confirmed without a proper complete history and physical examination of the hips.

Need an exam: Pain that lasts for a year and is spreading requires a full history, exam, and appropriate testing for diagnosis. My guess would be that pain at the level of the right hip for a year is most likely musculoskeletal but this would be just a guess. Make an appointment with your PCP or your gynecologist to find out for sure what is going on. Hope you feel better fast.
