Probably not: But he should have any new mole checked out. There are a lot of moles that are not dangerous that appear on our skin as we age. But it takes a doctors evaluation to make sure it is not something more serious.

I had a sudden mole show up on my smallest toe, I'm not sure how long it's been there but I would say pretty recently. Within a few months. I have pictures of it.
