Globus Pharyngeus : may be caused by reflux of acidic stomach contents into the upper esophagus, causing spasm of the upper esophageal sphincter muscle & a sensation of something stuck in the throat. After endoscopic & manometric diagnosis, medications for GERD + Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for anxiety may be effective. If globus persists after GERD is controlled, local Botox may help.
