A member asked:

Female, 52, w/pvc's had a stress echo done yesterday and found an aneurysm between the upper chambers of the heart, no hole. reason for concern?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some, yes.: An atrial septal aneurism is a bulging and weakening of the muscular wall between the right & left atria. Few patients have complications. Rarely, blood clots can form around the aneurism and very rarely rupture can occur. The risk of complications is reduced by judicious use of blood thinners, control of rhythm abnormalities and blood pressure, and maintaining a heart healthy diet & life style.
