Have him drink: plenty of fluids and use saline and suction for his nose (unless he is able to blow his nose). He is too young for "cold" medications, which really don't treat the cause anyway. You can also use a humidifier in his sleeping area (unless he has a mold allergy or asthma). Please see his doctor if he has a fever, pain, difficulty breathing or history of respiratory problems, or if it doesn't go away.

A wet cough which is not resolving or is associated with fever should be evaluated. Post nasal drip may result in a wet cough and removal of the nasal mucus with pediatric nasal saline drops and gentle suction is often useful. A deep wet cough is often caused by bronchitis or pneumonia and can be associated with vomiting. Continue to encourage fluids and monitor his temp. Watch for worsening.
