Determine cause: Chronic cough is most commonly due to 3 conditions: asthma, post-nasal drip, or GERD (heartburn). You might have one or a combination of all three. Post-viral cough is also very common and can last for weeks. Further workup by Allergist is helpful as they can perform a more detailed assessment including skin testing, pulmonary function testing, etc. Treatment will depend on cause.

You need to be seen: No way to tell without at least an examination and possibly a chest x-ray. Could be bronchitis, tracheitis, asthma, pneumonia, etc.
