Great question: And the honest answer is ... No one is really sure, unfortunately. This is because circulating serotonin doesn't necessarily correlate with how you "feel" - it's very hard to determine. That said, tramadol does inhibit norepinephrine/serotonin reuptake ... Which is how the pain signals from the body are translated in the brain. Hope that helps!

If a particular SSRI doesnt help depression/anxiety symptoms, how does switching to a different SSRI help since they both block reputable of Serotonin? Are all SSRIs chemically different in some way, so while one may not work, another one will?
