Great question: And the honest answer is ... No one is really sure, unfortunately. This is because circulating serotonin doesn't necessarily correlate with how you "feel" - it's very hard to determine. That said, tramadol does inhibit norepinephrine/serotonin reuptake ... Which is how the pain signals from the body are translated in the brain. Hope that helps!
