A member asked:

What is considered severe diahrea in a child and what point should i take her to er to get iv fluids for dehydration?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dehydration: Less than 5 wet diapers in 24 hours in a baby is suggestive of dehydration, which babies do not tolerate well. If oral rehydration with an electrolyte solution does not increase urination frequency shortly, emergent evaluation by you physician or an emergency facility is in order.
