Antinuclear Antibody: ANA test detects antinuclear antibodies in your blood. These antibodies often attack your body's own tissues. In most cases, a positive ANA test indicates that your immune system has launched a misdirected attack on your own tissue (autoimmune reaction). Caution as ANA testing can be positive in healthy individuals. This lab is ordered when there is concern for autoimmune disease like lupus.
