A member asked:

Is binge drinking considered a compulsive or impulsive trait? i don't have an addiction as i can go without but often overindulge when i do drink.

Semantics: "Impulsive" and "Compulsive" are terms about which even experts cannot agree. Most definitions of "impulsive" entail a failure to inhibit behavior when advantageous to do so. So yours sounds more of an impulse control issue. "Addiction" is also ambiguously defined. But, I would define repeated overindulgence as a "decidedly problematic" relationship with alcohol and urge you to seek counsel.
