Monitor the Ankle: Bones with edema can take a long time to heal. Follow the pain and swelling and if it does not get better have your doctor re check.

Bone Healing: It takes a fracture to heal in 6 to 12 weeks, with bone marrow edema or subchondral edema it might take up to 6 months for all the symptoms to be resolved.

Re-visit dr.: Just because your injury has been labeled "gone" does not mean that it is. The acute swelling and pain may have resolved, but these "bone bruise" accompanied by soft tissue injuries can be chronic untill fully resolve. Recommend fe-x-ray, possible MRI or cat scan. Get more info and then follow treatment based on final diagnosis. This could be anything from immobilization, p. Ther injections , etc.
