Cough: One thing to remember is that cough is a protective reflex. They are coughing for a reason and we don't want to extinguish cough aggressively. The next thing to consider is: how bad is the cough? How long has it been there for? What other symptoms? If there is an underlying process like wheezing, sinus infection or allergies then addressing the primary cause is going to be the mainstay of treatmen

I agree, and would add if the cough results in gagging or vomiting, your physician can obtain a test for pertussis. Reflux can worsen during coughing and elevation is suggested. If the cough is still there after three weeks, or worsens, please see your PCP. A virtual appt is available to follow up.
