Sharp mechanical: pain that is not constant joint pain can be due to an arthritic bones surface we're not all the joints is involved and only in certain positions the arthritic area is irritating or a similar tendon or ligament irritation which you get only happens a certain positions. Exam by hand surgeon or orthopedic who understands The anatomy involved may shed some light on this. @ least the pain is not const
