Consider ABPM: The best way of knowing how well your blood pressure is controlled throughout the day is by having an ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). You will be asked to wear a small recording device and a blood pressure cuff that will check and record your BP throughout a 24 hr period.

NOT AT ALL!!!: Saying it doesn't matter what your BP is when you're out of his office is one of the strangest things I have ever heard (unless you spend almost all your time in his office!). If you take BP 10 times a day you'll get a different reading each time. What your BP is out of his office is much more important than in his office. This is so bizarre I advise that you find a diff. doc who understands this!
