Can take weeks: I am sorry to hear about the bronchitis. This excess phlegm is just the after effects of the inflammatory process and can take a couple (sometime 3-4 weeks) weeks to resolve. You could try guaifenesin 300 mg by mouth and you can take this every 4 hours if needed. This will help break up the mucus/phlegm. Just make sure you are not pregnant while taking this. Guaifenesin is also called Mucinex
