Whooping cough: or pertussis will not necessarily make you lose your voice. Do you know you have whooping cough? Or do you just think you might? Don't resist the urge to cough. That cough reflex is there for a reason. If you definitely have pertussis, you should be treated with an antibiotic, but that will not affect whether or not you lose your voice. Drink plenty of fluids and rest,which may help.
