A member asked:

Took a hiv rna and a rapid hiv antibodies test at 6 weeks from exposure came back negative. is it conclusive?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nearly so: A negative result for HIV RNA at three months is conclusive. At 6 weeks it is nearly so. It would be prudent to repeat the HIV RNA/nucleic acid test in 6 weeks to make sure. See this site for info on this topic. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/testing.html
