Doxycycline is a: good choice for treating acne. If it works for you, I would continue taking it. Taking it after meals reduces episodes of stomach upset. One possible side effect from chronic antibiotic use is disruption of your normal bowel bacteria, which can result in chronic diarrhea. Once your acne has resolved, you could stop the medication to see if acne returns.
