A member asked:

Pharma, mds: can you take bp medicine every other day if you have control. since 1/2 life of drugs vary, what is unique about every 24 hrs & why.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The way they r built: most BP meds have pharmacokinetics or chemical properties that allow a steady state or plateauing effect with an agent geared around 24 hrs. If you therefore take a med made that way only half as often as meant to be you will likely get a yo-yoing effect with the meds hence BP may vary too widely. I'd stick with the plan and not try to "beat the system". You can't "fool Mother Nature"!
