Lots of years: Oncologists are internal medicine specialist that finished at least 3 yrs of residency followed by at least a year of onocology fellowship. Before that, at least 7 years of medical school including premedicine. Good luck. I have known people in their 40s who still managed to become doctors after A career change;) major may be Bio life sciences,humanities,but also extracurr that make you stand out.
