Depends: At 49 years old mild changes may be seen even when asymptomatic. Most would not go on to total hips. However, it must be noted that arthritis always progresses but at different rates for different people

Varies : It means that the cartilage in your hips and symphysis has lost some of its normal water content and it is somewhat worn down, although to a mild degree. The clinical symptoms of all that vary quite a bit, it may not be causing you any symptoms at all or it could some anterior abdominal and groin pain. Don't hesitate to discuss with your doctor.
