Are the symptoms of capillary thrombosis the same as general venous thrombosis? does ultrasound screening typically check capillaries?

No: Ultrasound does not have sufficient resolution to visualize capillary thrombosis which is a microscopic process. The symptoms of venous thrombosis typically are pain and swelling in an extremity. Capillary thrombosis is more typically a systemic process.
