A member asked:

Does the same ultrasound test find both dvt and arterial thrombosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It can, however: the objective has to be specified prior to test being performed, otherwise the ultrasound tech would not know to attempt to look for both. Arterial thrombosis is often seen more accurately with angiograms, however, such as with a CT angiogram or MR angiogram, particularly with smaller vessels such as in the brain or organs. Ultrasound is better with venous clots.
