Mucous retention: phenomenon resulting from damage to minor accessory saliva gland/duct. May go away on it's own, if not and is a bother have your dentist or oral surgeon remove it.

Swelling: Any pain, bleeding, or as in your case, swelling, should be professionally evaluated. In all probability not serious, but see your Dentist or an Oral Surgeon for examination, differential diagnosis, and treatment plan. You'll be glad you did.
