A member asked:

Many doctors on here agree that "acute hiv symptoms occur soon after exposure to hiv and include flu-like symptoms". the question is - how soon? within 24 hours?

Very difficult: This is a very difficult question to answer - as the emergence of HIV related symptoms largely depends on your immune response and overall health. The range can really be from weeks up to 10 years. If you have concerns, there are newer (RNA based) rapid laboratory studies that can be done to test for infection starting at 10 days post-infection. Best to see your doctor and discuss.
