Fractured rib: It is possible that you have a fractured rib. Broken ribs cause pain for an extended period of time. It is also possible that the pain is due to a contusion of the chest wall. In either case, it is important to treat the pain adequately. Try therapeutic doses of Ibuprofen (600 mg 4x/day or 800 mg up to 3x/day) or naproxen (440- 550 mg up to 3x/day).
