Yes: Your doctor is correct. The higher doses of SSRI's like Lexapro (escitalopram) are the therapeutic doses for treating anxiety. The lower doses work best for depression. The general guideline is to gently and gradually increase the dose of the medication until the patient is well, or experiences side effects.
