Don't stop: The idea of treatment is to keep a patient well. As with most general medical conditions, treatment for a lifetime is the norm. We do that with thyroid illness, diabetes, nearsightedness, sickle cell anemia, arthritis and so on. The idea that the treatment of depression should last a few months is from fifty years ago, when we knew much less about this. Please talk to your treating physician.
