I saw a reddish pea sized speck in my stool. could it be blood? it seems to be embedded in the stool. how would blood look like in stool?

Could be...: Blood in stool has a variable appearance and when present in small amounts may be missed if looking for it. It can be any shade of red color including black. Food remnants in the feces can also resemble blood e.g. Red peppers, beets, tomatoes etc. If you are concerned see your doctor. Good luck!

Probably not: Blood in the stool would color the stool, not stand out as a 'speck'. It is more likely that you saw a piece of undigested food.
