Xanax (alprazolam) not recommend: Although adverse effects and data are scarce on infants breastfed by moms taking Xanax (alprazolam) as prescribed it is generally felt not to be the drug of choice since it has a relatively longer half life than other drugs as well as active metabolites. Depending on the age of the infant it can cause effects. Can you NOT use ANYTHING while breastfeeding? If not, consider Lorazepam or Oxazepam as substitutes.
