Need exam: It sounds like you are describing 'proptosis' in the left eye, which is making it seem like the left eye is larger because the eyelids are more widely pushed apart. This, with the combination of pain, is a reason to get an eye exam. There are many causes for this that can be narrowed down with the help of an ophthalmologist. Good luck.
