A member asked:

I have an unusual swelling on my ankle, there are other, less prominent swellings around it, and i was wondering what it may be?

Many things: Swelling of the ankle can be caused by inflammation due to many things. Trauma can cause damage to ligaments, tendons and bone resulting in swelling. Gout, pseudogout or infections can cause swelling. Decreased blood flow (for a variety of reasons) from the area may also mimic this. Evaluation for these in the clinic would help delineate the cause.
