Could be allergies: Swollen nasal passages often occur with allergies, and drainage can go down the back of your throat causing you to cough up phlegm. Try a steroid nasal spray like Flonase (now available over the counter) plus an antihistamine like loratadine. If still no improvement in 3-4 days, get checked out!
