Consult Dr.: Xanax (alprazolam) is not for depression. Speak to your doctor about an antidepressant that also helps with anxiety, such as Zoloft. Is there a state funded mental health center in the Houston area? Check with the Houston Medical Society or the Texas Medical Society and see if there is a pro bono system to access.
