Higher risk: You are more likely to develop diabetes but that's because of your family history of type 2 diabetes and not because of the graves'. You can't change genetics but try to keep your weight as close to normal as possible.

Increased risk : Family history strongly affects your risk for type 2 diabetes(dm2). You can significantly reduce that risk by eating well, exercising, and maintaining a normal weight. Family history also affects your risk for auto-immune diseases, including dm1 as well as graves' disease. We don't fully understand what triggers the autoimmune response that causes dm1, but you are slightly increased risk for this.
