i was in barbados and i now have a prickly rash on my left side of neck and at very back of lower head. no fever, just rash tender to touch.

Shingles?: Sounds as if this may be shingles. A quick look at the nature of the rash and its distribution should allow most doctors to recognize this. Have your PCP take a look.
